Odd-even Effects and the Measurement of Isotopic Ratios

چکیده
Measurements of the odd-even effect in the mass spectrometric analysis ofTi and Os isotopes by resonance ionization mass spectrometry have been performed forM = + 1, 0 and -1 transitions. Under saturating conditions of the ionization and forM = + 1 transitions odd-even effects are reduced below the 0.5% level. Depending on the polarization state of the laser large odd isotope enrichments are observed for M = 0 and -1 transitions which can be reduced below the 0.5% level by depolarization of the laser field.

Measurement of isotopic ratios by resonance ionization mass spectrometry in the presence of optical isotope shifts
The determination of isotopic ratios by Resonance Ionization Mass Spectrometry (RIMS) requires a thorough characterisation of laser induced isotope effects. Besides the widely discussed odd-even effects (Fairbanks et al.l989,Lambropoulos et al.1989, Payne et al. 1991, Wunderlich et al 1992 a,b) there have also been reports of laser induced shifts in even-even isotopic ratios (Joung et al., 1990...
متن کاملLaser-Induced Isotopic Effects in Titanium Resonance
Titanium isotope ratios have been measured by resonance ionization mass spectrometry (RIMS) with special emphasis on the nature of laserinduced isotopic selectivity. A pronounced wavelength dependence of even mass isotope ratios is caused by large nuclear volume effects near the magic neutron number 28 in T i . Optical isotope shifts, ranging from 0.07 to 0.21 cm-l, between T i and 4eTi were me...
متن کاملSkolem Odd Difference Mean Graphs
In this paper we define a new labeling called skolem odd difference mean labeling and investigate skolem odd difference meanness of some standard graphs. Let G = (V,E) be a graph with p vertices and q edges. G is said be skolem odd difference mean if there exists a function f : V (G) → {0, 1, 2, 3, . . . , p + 3q − 3} satisfying f is 1−1 and the induced map f : E(G) → {1, 3, 5, . . . , 2q−1} de...
متن کاملIsotopic analysis of mineral phases to unravel the origin of altered volcanic rocks: an example from the Leucite Hills lamproites
Study of lamproites from Leucite Hills, Wyoming, indicates that the isotopic compositions of some specimens have been modified due to the alteration and/or the presence of secondary carbonate impurities within the whole rocks. Leachate test shows that while phlogopite lamproites are not affected by secondary processes, the transitional madupitic lamproites from Middle Table Mountain and on...
متن کاملLaser-induced isotopic selectivity in the resonance ionization of Os
Isotope selective effects in resonance ionization mass spectrometry (RIMS) pose a potentially serious limitation to the application of this technique to the precise and reproducible measurement of isotope ratios. In order to identify some of the underlying causes of isotope selectivity in RIMS and to establish procedures for minimizing these effects, we investigated laser-induced isotope select...
